Na osnovu članova 106. Zakona o visokom obrazovanju („Službene novine Kantona Sarajevo“ br. 36/22 i 28/25), člana 148. Statuta Univerziteta u Sarajevu, člana 16. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

za upis studenata na TREĆI CIKLUS STUDIJA – DOKTORSKI STUDIJ
titled “BIOMEDICINE AND HEALTH”

at the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Medicine, for the 2025/2026 academic year

I

Konkurs se raspisuje za upis studenata na treći ciklus studija – doktorski studij pod nazivom „Biomedicina i zdravstvo“.

The program is organized over a period of three academic years, and upon its completion—after the successful defense of the doctoral dissertation—the academic title and scientific degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences is awarded.

The tuition fee for one academic year is 7,000 BAM (seven thousand BAM).

Candidates who obtained the title of Master of Science prior to the implementation of the Bologna three-cycle system, or the title of Academic Specialist in fields relevant to the area of the third cycle study program, will be granted recognition of 60 ECTS credits and exemption from the tuition fee (7,000 BAM) for the first academic year.

The call for applications is open, under equal conditions, to candidates:

  1. from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad who have completed an integrated study program in medicine and obtained 360 ECTS credits, or who have completed a pre-Bologna undergraduate program lasting six years;
  2. who have not completed an integrated medical study program and have not obtained the title of Master of Medical Sciences, and are therefore required to complete the academic recognition process of their previously earned degree (https://mf.unsa.ba/studij/nastavak-studija/treci-ciklus/
  3. kandidati koji su stekli diplomu sa naučnim zvanjem magistra medicinskih nauka prije uvođenja Bolonjskog sistema studija medicine na Univerzitetu u Sarajevu – Medicinskom fakultetu ili na drugoj visokoškolskoj ustanovi u Bosni i Hercegovini ili inostranstvu;
  4. who are foreign nationals, provided they submit a decision on the recognition/academic validation of their diploma for the purpose of continuing education.

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. Curriculum vitae (CV)
  2. Diploma of previously completed education
  3. Decision on recognition/equivalence/academic validation of a diploma obtained abroad or in one of the former Yugoslav republics after April 6, 1992
  4. Proof of English language proficiency at a level sufficient for verbal and written communication, understanding scientific and academic literature, writing scientific papers, and using computer programs
  5. Copies of scientific research papers in which the candidate is the first or second author (published in CC, SCI, SSCI, or other internationally recognized databases) – mandatory for candidates who possess them
  6. Confirmation from the project leader on participation in a scientific project in the country and/or abroad lasting at least one month – mandatory for candidates who possess such confirmation

All required documents must be submitted in original or certified copies. Application materials will not be returned.

All candidates who submit complete and timely applications will be invited for an interview on October 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty.

Candidates who meet the admission requirements will be selected based on the following criteria:

–             demonstriranja rezultata in scientific research

–             motiviranosti za dalji znanstvenoistraživački rad iskazane na intervjuu.

Scoring of scientific research results will be conducted in accordance with the valid Curriculum of the third cycle study program “Biomedicine and Health” from 2024.

Candidates gain the right to enroll based on the points earned in the selection process and after signing the Agreement on Mutual Rights and Obligations between the student and the Faculty.

The optimal number of students to be admitted to the program is 30 (thirty).

The minimum number of enrolled candidates required to organize classes for medical doctors is eight.

The call remains open for 20 days from the date of publication.

Information for Candidates Applying to the Third Cycle of Studies – Doctoral Program “BIOMEDICINE AND HEALTH” at the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Medicine

The doctoral program “Biomedicine and Health” is organized over a period of three academic years. Upon completion of the program and successful defense of the doctoral dissertation, candidates are awarded the academic title and scientific degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

The tuition fee for one academic year is 7,000.00 BAM (seven thousand BAM).

Candidates who have not completed an integrated university study program in medicine and have not obtained the title of Master of Medical Sciences in the meantime may be required, upon enrollment, to take certain courses or parts of courses (bridging courses), as determined by the Doctoral Studies Council.

The call for applications is open, under equal conditions, to candidates:

  • from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad who have completed a university study program in biomedical sciences and obtained 360 ECTS credits, or who have completed a pre-Bologna undergraduate study program lasting six years;
  • who have obtained a diploma with the scientific title of Master of Medical Sciences prior to the implementation of the Bologna system at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo, or at another higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina or abroad;
  • foreign nationals, provided they submit a decision on the recognition/academic validation of their diploma.
