Ethics Committee

Ethics Committee – Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo The Faculty Ethics Committee is the body responsible for matters of academic ethics at the level of the University’s organizational unit. It is tasked with promoting academic values, preserving academic integrity and ethics, protecting against discrimination and harassment based on gender and sexual harassment, and standardizing moral behavior and ethical conduct of academic staff in research, teaching, and social relations.

The Faculty Ethics Committee is authorized to:

• Monitor the implementation of the University’s Code of Ethics at the Faculty and conduct procedures for determining violations of the Code of Ethics at the Faculty;

• Initiate proceedings for violations of the University’s Code of Ethics either on its own initiative or at the request of academic or non-academic staff, students, or other individuals who believe that a violation has occurred at the Faculty;
• In cases of serious violations of the Code of Ethics, submit a report to the Dean with a proposal to initiate disciplinary proceedings;
• Prepare an annual report on its work and on the procedures conducted for determining violations of the Code of Ethics, and submit it to the Dean, the Faculty Council, and the University Ethics Council.

The Faculty Ethics Committee shall perform its duties in accordance with the University’s Code of Ethics.

In the process of determining violations of the Code of Ethics, the Committee must respect the principle of confidentiality
and protect the dignity of the person involved in the proceedings.

The Faculty Ethics Committee is appointed by the Dean based
on prior approval from the Faculty Council.
