FIRST CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
FOR ENROLMENT INTO THE FIRST YEAR OF
THE INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL DEGREE PROGRAM
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SARAJEVO – FACULTY OF MEDICINE
In accordance with the University of Sarajevo Call for Competitions (Competitions for the enrollment in the first study year at the University of Sarajevo in the 2024/2025 academic year) announced on 10 June 2024, University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Medicine admits 30 students into the first year of the International Medical Degree Program in the academic year 2024/2025.
Application period for the enrolment into the first year for the academic year 2024/2025 will be opened from 10 June to 28 June 2024.
Closing date for applications is 28 June 2024, at 16:00 CET.

The Admission Commission will conduct structured interviews with candidates on Tuesday, 02 July 2024. Interviews will be organized online or in person. Student Affairs Office will contact candidates and inform about the exact time of the interview. Interviews will start at 11,00 CET. Applications of Candidates who do not attend the online interview will be rejected.

Important note for the enrolment of applicants who obtained secondary/high school education abroad: Applicants who obtained secondary/high school education abroad must submit verified copy or original transcript and secondary/high school diploma along with a certificate of nostrification/equivalence issued by the Cantonal Ministry of Education and Science. If the process of diploma nostrification/equivalence is not finished by the submission deadline, candidates should submit notarised translation of documents (a court translation). The certificate of recognition is the prerequisite for the enrolment. In some exceptional cases, the candidates can be conditionally enrolled into the first year even before the validation (nostrification) of their high school certificates or equivalency has been completed under condition that they present a document confirming that they have applied for validation or equivalence procedure, which is being in progress.
In accordance to the Rulebook on the equivalence/nostrification of the foreign school certificates and diplomas (Official Gazette number: 20/19, 23/21), the Ministry of Education Canton Sarajevo is responsible for the procedure of secondary/high school diploma nostrification/equivalence, for more details please follow the link:

Incomplete and late applications (submitted after the closing date) will not be considered.
The preliminary and final rank list will be released in online mode. The candidates will have to use their ID numbers (a code received after registration to eUNSA) in order to check the rank list.
Preliminary rank list of enrolled candidates will be announced latest by Monday, 08 July 2024 on the Faculty Announcement Board (Main Faculty Building, Čekaluša 90, Sarajevo, B&H) and eUNSA and the Faculty web site link www.mf.unsa.ba
Candidates who wish to file a complaint regarding the rank list can do so by Wednesday, 10 July 2024 (until 15.30 CET).
All complaints should be submitted to the Faculty Protocol Office. Appeal Commission will commence reviewing the rank list on Thursday, 11 July 2023 at 9,00 CET, when all candidates who appealed, should be present in person.
Final rank list of admitted candidates will be announced on Friday, 12 July 2024 on the Faculty Announcement Board (Main Faculty Building, Čekaluša 90, Sarajevo, B&H) and eUNSA and the Faculty web site link www.mf.unsa.ba. ID numbers (a code received after registration to eUNSA) will be used instead of names and personal data in the Final rank list.
All candidates who have deemed the right of admission (conditional or unconditional offer of admission) are obliged to submit the original documents for the enrolment or in case of conditional admission to confirm the admission offer (if the verification of secondary/high school documents has not been finished by the Cantonal Ministry of Education). Otherwise, the application would be considered as withdrawn.
Second Call for Applications will be announced if the sufficient number of candidates do not satisfy entrance criteria, in the period from 26 August to 06 September 2024.
Ranking of candidates will be based on criteria defined by the UNSA Decision for academic year 2024/2025 (link: Konkurs za upis studenata na Univerzitet u Sarajevu u akademskoj 2024/2025. godini | Univerzitet u Sarajevu (unsa.ba), as follows:
/1/ scoring of overall secondary school achievement will be calculated according the following formula: the average grade of all subjects for all four years of secondary/high school education is rounded to two decimal places and multiplied by 4.
Maximum points: 20
/2/ scoring of achievements in subjects relevant for the study programme (Biology, Physics Chemistry, and English language) will be calculated according the following formula: the average grade in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English language (throughout the four years of secondary/high school education) is rounded to two decimal places and multiplied by 8.
Maximum points: 40
/3/ scoring of achievements in secondary school competitions (awards, prizes, etc.) in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English language: students with these prizes will be awarded as follows:
for local level competitions (e.g. municipal, city level) 1st place – 2 points, 2nd place – 1 point, 3rd place – 0,5 points;
for cantonal level competitions (regional level within the country)1st place – 3 points, 2nd place – 2 points, 3rd place – 1 point;
for entity/state level competitions (state, county, province level) 1st place – 4 points, 2nd place – 3 points, 3rd place – 2 points;
for international level competitions 1st place – 5 points, 2nd place – 4 points, 3rd place – 3 points.
For candidates who finished secondary/high school education abroad, the Admission Commission will express scores as points based on which they are ranked in the home country (in the school they have completed).
/4/ scoring candidates with overall average grade 5.00 and exemplary record of conduct, or equivalent award for candidates who finished secondary/high school education abroad: students with special prizes will be awarded 5 points.
/5/ candidates who finished a four-year secondary/high school in accordance to international programs approved by the resource Ministry and who passed (international) state graduation exam will be awarded with additional points for each subject relevant for the study program (Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English language), as follows:
Grade A* or A – 3 points,
Grade B – 2 points, and
Grade C – 1 point.
Candidates with English language grades A*, A, B and C are not obliged to take an additional language proficiency test.
/6/ The forecast grades will be scored in case of realising a state graduation exam results during the August or September. The candidates are obliged to submit a final certificate and/or state graduation exam diploma prior to the beginning of the study year.
Equivalence of the IB program grades will be in accordance with the Decision of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton.
/7/ The Admission Commission will conduct structured interviews with candidates. Structured interviews will cover four areas for evaluation of candidates: English Language level, Communication Skills, Motivation and General Impression. Each area will be scored on a 10 point scale.
Minimum points for each area of the interview: 6 points
Maximum overall points: 40
Interviews will be organized online or in person. Student Affairs Office will contact candidates and inform about the exact time of the interview.
Applications of Candidates who do not attend the online interview will be rejected.
